Dr. Jan David Hendricks studied law at the Ruhr University Bochum and graduated in 2018 with the First State Examination in Law. His university studies focused in particular on inheritance law. He then worked as a research assistant at the Chair of German Legal History, Civil Law and Commercial Law of Prof. Dr. Karlheinz Muscheler. In 2019, he moved to the Chair of Civil Law, Corporate Law (Labor Law and Company Law) and Family Business Law as a research assistant, where he wrote his interdisciplinary dissertation “Rechtsdurchsetzung mittels Legal Tech-Plattformen”, which was awarded the Ernst Zander Prize 2024 and the gdf Prize Dr. Klaus Marquardt 2024, until 2023. He completed his legal traineeship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Hamm, including stations at the Düsseldorf Bar Association and at international commercial law firms in the corporate (family business) and labor sector. At the beginning of 2025, he successfully passed the second state examination.
Since May 2025, he has been a lecturer (fixed term) and habilitation candidate at the Chair of Civil Law, Corporate Law (Labour and Company Law) and Family Business Law of Prof. Dr. Katharina Uffmann. His research focuses on civil law, procedural law, (individual and collective) labour law and the law governing the legal profession, each of which he examines against the backdrop of advancing digitalization. He is particularly interested in the digital working society.
